Verrazano-Narrows Bridge closures for this week

From the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA):

The entrance to the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge from the Belt Parkway will be closed overnight from Wednesday, January 20, into Thursday morning, January 21, and again overnight Thursday into Friday morning, January 22.

The closures are required for the installation of new girders as part of an $84.3 million project to reconstruct the ramp and build a new bus/HOV ramp. The work is dependent on weather and may be canceled if it rains.

The Brooklyn-bound upper level of the bridge will also be closed overnight from late Wednesday, January 20, into Saturday morning, January 23, for the project.

Staten Island-bound vehicles on the Belt Parkway will be detoured to the Bay Eighth Street exit to 92nd Street or the Fourth Avenue exit to 86th Street and onto the bridge. Traffic enforcement agents and electronic signs will be used to direct motorists to the detour route.
