Despite a change in schedule due to fierce winter weather, the 29th annual Chinese New Year Celebration Parade on Eighth Avenue kicked off on Sunday, February 21 with the support of local residents, elected officials and even the sun.
Brooklynites gathered to celebrate the Year of the Monkey with seasonably warm temperatures, red and yellow balloons, fireworks, confetti and – of course – some dancing dragons.
The parade is hosted yearly by the Brooklyn Chinese-American Association.
