62nd Precinct Police Beat: Woman fights with son’s girlfriend over cable box

Between Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13, the 62nd Precinct received reports of two felony assaults and one grand larceny. The 62nd Precinct serves Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend.

SUNDAY STRUGGLE

A 24-year-old Hispanic woman was strangled and punched by her 21-year-old boyfriend in an apartment near Avenue O and McDonald Avenue on Sunday, March 13. According to cops, the pair was arguing inside the apartment at around 10:30 a.m. when the 21-year-old began punching the woman and grabbed her by the neck. The 24-year-old sustained redness and swelling. Her boyfriend was apprehended by police.

WI-FIGHT

An argument over a cable box led to a tiff between two women inside a 25th Avenue apartment on Saturday, March 12. According to police, at around 5:30 p.m., a woman began arguing with her son’s 22-year-old girlfriend over the cable/wifi box. The verbal dispute led to the 22-year-old shoving the box into the woman’s neck, causing scratches and pain.

UNLUCKY LISTING

A 41-year-old man sold a $2,000 dining room set on craigslist in late February, only to find out that the buyer had duped him. According to cops, the unknown perp contacted the 41-year-old about the listing and sent in a check for the item. Once the check cleared, the set was sent to the perp. On Saturday, March 12, the man was informed by TD Bank that the check was fraudulent.
