Cyclones to celebrate Mike Piazza during Hall of Fame Day

Brooklyn is gearing up to celebrate the newest Cooperstown bound catcher.

Mike Piazza will be the first position player in New York Mets history to be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and the Brooklyn Cyclones, the Class-A minor league affiliate of the Mets, is holding a special day of events to honor the greatest home run hitting catcher’s accomplishment.

On Sunday, July 24, the same day of the 2016 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, the Cyclones will host a Hall of Fame Day at MCU Park. Gates will open at 1:30 p.m. where fans will be able to watch the ceremony on the field’s screen.

Following the viewing, the Cyclones will take the field at 4 p.m. to take on the cross-bridge rivals, the Staten Island Yankees, with the home team paying homage to Piazza by wearing black and blue jerseys inspired by the alternate uniforms worn by the Mets during the Hall of Famers tenure with the Amazin’s. The jerseys will be auctioned off with proceeds to benefit local charities.

Starting Thursday, March 31, the team is offering special “31” ticket package. $31 you will buy an attendee a field box ticket, $5 voucher good for food and drinks, a 31 t-shirt available in several sizes and a Shea Stadium Bobble Apple, available exclusively to those who purchase this package.
