Hit and run in Bensonhurst leaves 70-year-old in critical condition

A 70-year-old man is in critical condition after he was struck by an SUV at the corner of 85th Street and 25th Avenue at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2.

According to police, the vehicle hit the 70-year-old, who was crossing the street on a motorized scooter, while making a right turn onto 85th Street from 25th Avenue. Police also said that the driver of the 2011-2015 white Jeep Grand Cherokee stopped midblock after the hit, assessed the collision, and returned to his car and fled the scene.

The SUV was last seen heading towards Stillwell Avenue and is said to have possible damage to the front, right fender and bumper on the passenger side.

The man was transported to NYU Lutheran Medical Center and is listed in critical condition.
