62nd Precinct Police Beat:Phones swiped from different pedestrians on same day

On Tuesday, April 12, the 62nd Precinct received reports of one robbery and two grand larcenies. The 62nd Precinct serves Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend.

TEENAGE DIRTBAG

A 15-year-old girl and her 16-year-old boyfriend were walking near Bay Seventh Street and Benson Avenue on Tuesday, April 12 when, at around 12:40 p.m., the pair began to argue. According to cops, the girl told her boyfriend she wanted him to “leave her alone.” The 16-year-old became upset and proceeded to slap his girlfriend in the face, leaving a scratch below her left eye. The boyfriend also grabbed the 15-year-old’s Metrocard and school ID before fleeing northbound on Bay Seventh Street.

EASY COME, EASY GO

A woman’s cellphone was snatched out of her hand near 17th Avenue and 84th Street by a 32-year-old Hispanic man on Tuesday, April 12 at around 4:15 p.m. The woman told police that the perp took the phone from her hand and fled southbound on 17th Avenue. Cops were able to track down the man and the woman was able to positively identify him.

SWIPED

A 13-year-old Asian girl had her iPhone 6 Plus stolen from her hand as she was walking down 77th Street on Monday, April 12 at around 2:50 p.m. When looking into the case, police found that the phone – worth about $800 – had been turned off and wiped of data. Surveillance footage from a nearby building might be available.
