68th Precinct Police Beat: Robber steals cash from Bay Ridge pharmacy

Between Tuesday, April 12 and Thursday, April 21, the 68th Precinct received reports of three grand larcenies and two robberies. The 68th Precinct serves Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton.

DELIVERY GONE WRONG

Cops say a 28-year-old delivery man at a local bagel store was nearly robbed after dropping off food near Third Avenue and 78th Street on Monday, April 18. According to police, at around 3:30 a.m., the man was walking back to the store when a crook, described by the victim as a black man, approached him with a knife and demanded money. The perp then grabbed the delivery man’s jacket pocket to steal his property before fleeing the scene empty handed.

EMPTY HANDED PERP

Police say that a man attempted to steal a 28-year-old woman’s bag at approximately 9:50 p.m. on Monday, April 18. The woman was walking towards the northeast corner of Fourth Avenue and 78th Street when the man approached her from behind and attempted to nab the bag off her shoulder. When he failed to steal the victim’s bag, he allegedly fled down 78th street into the alley. No injuries were reported.

MORE TIRE AND RIM THEFTS

A 73-year-old woman became the latest Bay Ridge resident to have their tires and rims stolen from their vehicles. According to police, the woman parked her car near 71st Street and Shore Road on Monday, April 18 at around 2 p.m. and, when she returned to the parking spot at 9 a.m. the next morning, she realized a perp had stolen both tires and rims from the front and rear driver side of her vehicle. They were worth approximately $1,600. No arrests have been made

LOCAL PHARMACY ROBBED

Cops say a local pharmacy was robbed on Wednesday, April 20. According to police, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a male crook entered store — located near Fifth Avenue and 72ndStreet — approached the 48-year-old female cashier, showed her a pocket knife and demanded money. Once the employee opened the cash register, the perp, described by cops as wearing red gloves and a mask, stole $329 dollars from register. He then fled southbound on Fifth Avenue.

PAIN IN THE NECK

A 68-year-old woman had her $300 necklace stolen by a male perp on Thursday, April 12 at around 1:30 p.m, according to police. The victim was walking home on Third Avenue and 88thStreet, when the robber, described by the victim as a Hispanic male in his mid-20s, came from behind and ripped a $300 gold necklace off her neck and ran northbound on Fourth Avenue.
