Two suspected Ridge burglars nabbed in Queens

A pair of suspects in two Bay Ridge burglaries have been apprehended in Queens.

According to Captain Joseph Hayward, the commanding officer of the 68th Precinct in Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights, the alleged perps were picked up by the Burglary Larceny Unit in Queens North on March 29, the same day they are believed to have broken into two homes in the vicinity of 87th Street.

Subsequently, said Hayward, the duo was charged with 45 other burglaries, and cops are currently investigating a possible connection to burglaries in Nassau County.

Hayward, for his part, urged area residents to take common-sense precautions to discourage break-ins. Lock your windows and doors, he stressed, and, if you are going to be away, ask a neighbor to park his or her car in your driveway. Motion sensor lights are also helpful in deterring burglaries, Hayward said.
