62nd Precinct Police Beat: Man attacked and robbed in Bensonhurst

Between Friday, June 3 and Sunday, June 5, the 62nd Precinct received reports of two burglaries, one grand larceny and one robbery. The 62nd Precinct serves Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend.

OUTNUMBERED

A 23-year-old man told police that on Friday, June 3 at around 10:50 p.m., he was attacked by five men near Cropsey Avenue and Bay 26th Street. According to police, the perps allegedly punched the 23-year-old in the stomach and hit him in the ribs with a two-wheel scooter before fleeing with the man’s cellphone, ID and $200 in cash.

WINDOW BURGLAR

A 51-year-old man told police that an unknown perp entered his 64th Street home on Friday, June 3 at around 9:30 a.m. by removing the security gate from his rear window and breaking in. According to cops, the perp made off with $500 and various electronics.

TWO-MAN JOB

Two unknown perps broke into an 18th Avenue Restaurant on Sunday, June 5 at around 10:30 p.m., shattered a glass door and attempted to open a cash registers, according to cops. Surveillance footage showed two men at the location – one who remained outside and acted as a lookout, and another who went inside the restaurant.

CAUGHT ON TAPE

A pharmacy clerk was watching video surveillance from the store, located on 61st Street and 18th Avenue, on Friday, June 3 when he saw footage of a Hispanic man in his 30s stealing various items on Monday, May 30. The stolen merchandise totaled approximately $1,138.
