Borough Hall to hang messages of support in wake of Orlando shooting

Brooklyn Borough Hall is standing with Orlando.

Borough President Eric Adams has invited Brooklynites, beginning at 2 p.m. this afternoon, to pen their messages of solidarity on nearly 300 yards of rainbow fabric being stretched out outside 209 Joralemon Street.

Once the fabric is full, the Beep will wrap Borough Hall in the fabric as a memorial to the 49 lives lost in the fatal shooting inside an Orlando, Florida nightclub over the weekend. Those victims include two Brooklynites – Enrique Rios, a 25-year-old St. Francis student studying to be a social worker, and Brenda Marquez McCool, a mother of 11 who shielded her son from a bullet.

The event will be open to the public so long as there is fabric left to write on.
