Generally Speaking: Education council hails school PTAs

The Community Education Council for District 20 public schools held its end-of-school-term public meeting in the auditorium at P.S. 264, 371 89th Street in Bay Ridge. Members of the council, led by Laurie Windsor, used the occasion to honor the volunteer service by the PTAs throughout the district. They also bid a formal farewell to the Council‘s student member Ezana Ceman, who will be graduating from Fort Hamilton High School where he also served as senior class president. Windsor announced that Ceman had won a scholarship to Pace University.

Additionally, the council announced the appointment of Rena Goudelias as principal of P.S. 185, 86th Street and Ridge Boulevard.

Our congratulations to District 20 Superintendent Karina Costantino who has now served in the district‘s top spot for 10 years. This makes her the longest serving top administrator of District 20 schools. Costantino is a native Bay Ridgeite and a graduate of Fort Hamilton High School, and started her teaching career at P.S. 104, at 92nd Street and Fifth Avenue.
