Department of Consumer Health launches financial health initiative

The NYC Department of Consumer Affairs has announced the commencement of a new effort, entitled the Collaborative for Neighborhood Financial Health, that will be used to measure and improve neighborhood financial health with the help of community groups,

The DCA’s Office of Financial Empowerment will lead teams of community partners in Bedford-Stuyvesant and East Harlem in order to assess neighborhood financial health. This assessment will then be used to develop a set of strategies, policies, programs and financial products that will aid communities in building assets.

The project will also look to between understand the relationship between an individual’s financial health and the community in which he or she lives.
