The New York State Department of Transportation has issued a travel advisory for Friday, July 29 as it implements a traffic pattern change on the westbound Brooklyn-Queens Expressway in anticipation of the construction on the new Kosciuszko Bridge.
The new traffic pattern will go into effect following Friday’s evening rush hour, and will be in effect throughout 2016. The three travel lanes of the westbound BQE will split as follows:
- The left travel lane will be to the left of the work zone for through traffic only.
- Motorists wanting to access Exit 34 (Meeker/Morgan Avenues) should be in the right lane before the split.
- The center and right travel lanes will be to the right of the work zone.
- After the work zone (approximately half a mile), all three lanes will be together.
