Earlier this month, Republican candidate for the 43rd City Council district Bob Capano stopped by political radio show The Vito and Vito Show to announce the four co-chairs for his campaign.
“I’m excited to announce four outstanding co-chairs who are among the most respected individuals in Brooklyn and New York City,” said Capano.
The team includes former Kings County GOP Chairperson Craig Eaton, former Republican Congressmember Bob Turner, former Republican New York City mayoral candidate and radio host John Catsimatidis (for whom Capano works, as a manager at one of Catsimatidis’s Gristedes supermarkets), and Guardian Angels founder and radio host Curtis Sliwa.
The 43rd City Council district encompasses Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Bensonhurst. The seat is currently occupied by Councilmember Vincent Gentile, who cannot run again because of term limits.
Among the names that have been mentioned as interested in running for the seat are John Quaglione and Liam McCabe, said to be eyeing the Republican nomination, as well as Democrats Justin Brannan, Linda Sarsour and Kevin Peter Carroll. Quaglione ran against Gentile in 2013.
