‘Brooklyn’s Biggest Santa’ sees another season in Dyker Heights

Looks like Bay Ridge Parkway’s super-sized Saint Nick is sticking around.

While walking or driving through Dyker Heights — renowned for its larger-than-life holiday displays — one might stumble upon, for the second year in a row, what locals are still claiming to be the “Borough’s Biggest Santa Claus.”

While it has yet to be determined if the colossal lawn blow-up — which dominates the streetscape near the corner of 14th Avenue and Bay Ridge Parkway —  is, in fact, Brooklyn’s largest, a number of residents have marveled that it is, indeed, the most massive they’ve seen — at least around these parts.

“I think it’s great to have a great big Santa welcoming people to Dyker Heights,” noted Fran Vella-Marrone, president of the Dyker Heights Civic Association, last year. “What a wonderful way to celebrate the season.”

The inflatable decoration, which stands nearly as tall as the house it stands guard outside of, has garnered much acclaim from neighbors since its debut.

“[I] pass by it every day taking my son to school,” noted one reader last year. “[It’s] the biggest and best blow-up Santa I ever saw! It brings a smile to my face every day.”
