Department of Finance pays visit to Dyker Civic

In the heart of tax season, four representatives from the city’s Department of Finance stopped by the Dyker Civic Association’s March 7 meeting at St. Philip’s Parish Hall, 80th Street and 11th Avenue, to address residents’ concern about their property taxes, as well as to discuss other topics.

“Everybody got their notice of property evaluation in January,” explained Dyker Civic Association President Fran Vella-Marrone. “We knew that was an important topic for homeowners here in Dyker Heights.”

And so, Vella-Marrone reached out to the agency, which in turn sent not one, but four reps to field resident questions.

“They talked about the different ways that your taxes are calculated, and they talked about the different aspect of property taxes,” said Vella-Marrone, adding also that the group stayed after the meeting to answer even more questions and concerns. “It was a big hit. I want to thank the Department of Finance for sending us four wonderful representatives.”
