Sunset Park’s Bush Terminal Piers Park received a second entrance on Friday, July 21. .
The new entrance, located at 50th Street and First Avenue, is accessible by both pedestrians and cyclists, allowing easier access to the 10-block waterfront park which opened in November, 2014. Another entrance to the park is located on 43rd Street. The second entrance was added by the New York City Economic Development Corporation, which created the park, as a result of advocacy by community members including sitting Councilmember Carlos Menchaca.
“Parks and open spaces are the great equalizers, bringing people from all walks of life together to enjoy the great outdoors and refuel physically and spiritually,” said Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, calling the second entrance, “a welcome addition to increase green space accessibility for the residents of Sunset Park.”
