NYC Ferry celebrates one million riders with half-priced booze

Today’s the day to get some cheap booze on the NYC Ferry—if you can manage to get on a boat, that is.

The NYC Ferry surpassed one million riders on the morning of Wednesday, July 26, with more than 154,000 riders on the South Brooklyn route alone, according to the mayor’s office. In celebration of the achievement, NYC Ferry will be offering half-price draft beverages—including cold brew coffee, beer and wine—on all vessels with newsstands Wednesday only.

In addition, anyone who activates a ticket on the NYC Ferry app from now until Friday, July 28 will be entered to win a free annual NYC Ferry pass.

According to preliminary ridership data, the NYC Ferry was not expected to hit one million riders until August 23. In response to such a large ridership, NYC Ferry will soon add passenger capacity to three of the 20 boats in its fleet. The larger boats will be able to hold 249 passengers, compared to only 149 passengers on the small boats.
