Celebrating Brooklyn’s best, Maimonides Medical Center hosted its annual Champions of Healing gala at Barclays Center, 620 Atlantic Avenue, on Monday October 2.
The event featured a cocktail hour, an award ceremony, dinner and a live performance by Grammy nominees Robert Randolph & The Family Band.
Over the course of the evening, Best of Maimonides Awards were presented to Fellowship Director of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Dr. Pedram Bral, Trustees Esther and Jack Hidary and Special Assistant to the President and Senior Vice President of Patient Relations Douglas Jablon.
The founders of the Kids for Kids Foundation received the Brooklyn’s Best award.
“Our Champions of Healing Gala was a big night for Maimonides—and for Brooklyn,” said Kenneth Gibbs, president and CEO of Maimonides Medical Center. “We partnered with our friends at Barclays Center and at Blackbird Presents to bring Brooklyn a special night of celebrating and giving. “
There was also a charitable aspect to the night.
“The highlight of the evening was the generous donation of $1.5 million from the Kids for Kids Foundation in support of the Maimonides Children’s Hospital,” Gibbs added. “We hope their generosity inspires others to become Champions of Healing for our patients and families in Brooklyn and beyond.”
The gala’s co-chairs were CEO of Blackbird Presents and Trustee of Maimonides Keith Wortman and CEO of Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment Brett Yormark.
