For the fourth time, on May 2, Maimonides hosted the annual Evening of Research event at Dyker Beach Golf Club. The event was highlighted by keynote speaker Dr. Daniel Rosenbaum who serves as Maimonides’ regional chair of neurology.
The gathering celebrates the work and achievements of the Maimonides staff including residents, fellows and nurses in an effort to get them more involved and integrated with the culture and family within the hospital’s thousands of employees. In total over 200 people attended this event from all specialty areas of the hospital.
Peter Homel, a senior biostatician at Maimonides received the Austin A. Schlecker Academic Achievement Award posthumously.
In addition to awards and speeches recognizing the work of many healthcare workers at the hospital, a number of oral abstracts were presented to guests that covered many topics of interest to the medical and scientific community including, “Sleep Deprivation and Work Intensity: Correlation with Cognition, Manual Dexterity, and Psychological Well-being.”
The presenters were Dr. Sunny Goel; Linda Paradiso, RN; Dr. PHyllis Huang; Dr. Chima Ndubizu and Dr. of Pharmacy Elaine Wong.
“This year’s Evening of Research was a resounding success, resulting in numerous new contributions to the body of research published by our clinicians,” said Robin Gitman, vice president of academic affairs at Maimonides.
Now in its fourth year, the Evening of Research event is enjoyed by many and Maimonides hopes to continue this in the future. “It was great fun,” Gitman said
