Prior to the last game of the regular season, Fort Hamilton H.S. flag football head coach Lynn Beruldsen honored the Tigers’ three outgoing seniors.
This year’s seniors included three-year player Pam Carrion, who was an offensive blocker as well as a defensive lineman. She will be missed up the middle for quick moves on both sides of the ball as she looks forward to attending Baruch College in the fall.
Next, Amy Li was a surprise addition to this year’s team, coming on to play running back for her first season of flag football. Besides flag, Li also completed three years of varsity volleyball and four years of varsity basketball. She will be making the jump out of state to attend Boston University upon graduation.
Last but not least, Class President Abby Hom will be greatly missed. This year, Hom started at quarterback and had an MVP-like season, throwing 16 touchdowns over 10 games for 538 yards. Additionally, she rushed for 371 yards and scored three touchdowns, and scored another big touchdown on a 60-yard pass play. She was recognized by the New York Yankees Pinstriped Bowl as one of the city’s top high school players. Besides flag football, Hom has been the co-captain of her swim team and has played JV basketball.
In addition to sports, Hom has served as a manager of the varsity football team for the past three years, as well as one of the school’s yearbook photographers. As a member of Fort Hamilton’s Leadership Committee, her school-wide spirit will be missed when she attends Brooklyn’s St. Joseph’s University come September. At St. Joseph’s, Hom will study nursing and intends to continue playing flag football with fellow alumna Rivers Martinez.
