Bay Ridge Cares to put the fun in fundraiser with Radio Bingo

Bay Ridge is bringing in the fun with music and good ol’ fashioned bingo.

On Saturday, March 4, non-profit organization Bay Ridge Cares, which looks to help those in need, is hosting Radio Bingo, a charitable event that will feature a mix between “Name That Tune” and Bingo to put a new spin on some old favorites.

“Rather than playing with regular Bingo cards, we give you cards with songs on them instead,” said Vice President and founder of Bay Ridge Cares Justin Brannan. “So when you hear a song or a clip of a song, you mark it off on your card. And when you get a line of songs marked off, you scream Bingo at the top of your lungs.”

The event includes light food catered by Mejlander and Mulgannon, soda, water, coffee and cookies. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Grandma’s Love, a Bay Ridge-based not-for-profit that is committed to combating childhood hunger, especially in low-income and at risk neighborhoods.

Brannan discussed the importance of the event to the community. “We hold one large ‘fun’ raiser each year to support the many programs, projects and individuals in our community that may need help when no other help is available,” he said.  “When our organizations help a neighbor in need, it is our entire community that is helping. So we would love for as many people to attend as possible. Grab some friends and join us for a night of music, Bingo, dancing, prices great food and drink.”

In addition to the fun, many local businesses and restaurants have donated gift cards to be given away as prizes at the event. DJ @Work will provide entertainment.

Radio Bingo will take place on Saturday, March 4 from 7-11 p.m. at St. Mary’s Antiochian Orthodox Church Hall, 192 81st Street. Tickets are $30 and attendees must reserve in advance. Attendees on the same reservation will be seated together. Those who would like to reserve a table must order all their tickets on the same reservation. Tables seat eight or 10 people.
