A Brooklyn court officer was indicted on Monday, August 21, for official misconduct, public lewdness and other charges, after coercing a woman, who waiting in Criminal Court, to perform a sex act on him in a public staircase.

According to Acting District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, the defendant, identified as Sergeant Timothy Nolan, was on duty and in uniform on October 21, 2016 when he approached the victim in a Brooklyn Criminal Court (120 Schermerhorn Street) hallway. Nolan reportedly asked the victim, who was attempting to bail out her boyfriend, to take a walk with him, leading her to a staircase, exposing himself and asking for a sex act. The victim believed that complying would mean that the defendant would help her bail out her boyfriend, but refusing would negatively impact the case.

As she performed the sex act on him, Nolan allegedly grabbed the victim by her hair, fondled her and attempted to kiss her. If convicted, Nolan faces up to a year in prison.
