Hardware chain celebrates grand opening in Dyker

Open just in time for fall – and all of your upcoming holiday or house-sprucing needs – Costello’s Ace Hardware is equipped with a brand new (and quite large) Dyker Heights location at 7615 13th Avenue.

Marking the 26th location for the hardware chain, the 10,000-square-foot store held a grand opening and ribbon cutting on Friday, October 14.

“We’re incredibly proud to have the opportunity to serve our new neighbors of Dyker Heights,” said Michael Costello, Costello’s Ace Hardware’s CEO. ”Our mission is to provide our customers with an amazing shopping experience every time they enter Costello’s Ace Hardware. We look forward to becoming a helpful, valuable and trusted part of the community, both inside and outside the walls of our store.”

The new Dyker store will be the chain’s first location in Brooklyn and promises to offer a selection of merchandise fit for the county of Kings.

In addition to the upgraded retail space – which underwent a year-long transition after Costello’s Ace Hardware purchased the building from Polstein’s Home Center – customers can expect a wide product assortment, featuring brands like Craftsman, Benjamin Moore and Weber. The store will also feature an extensive selection of grills as well as separate houseware and bathware departments. Key cutting, glass and acrylic sheet cutting and screen repair will also be available in-store.

“Our hope is really to reach as many people as we can and get some faces in here that maybe haven’t been here for some years and get them to see what we’ve done,” said the store’s Marketing Director Joey Costello. “Hopefully they’ll come and they’ll love the store and it’ll provide a little lift to the neighborhood and just be part of the community and part of the fabric of the community for years to come.”

During the store’s grand opening weekend (Saturday, October 15 – Sunday, October 16), customers can enjoy 20 percent off their entire purchase, free windshield de-icers to the first 300 customers and Clorox Bleach for $0.99 along with a special appearance from Joe “Vito” Gannascoli, star of “The Sopranos” (Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.); and shoppers can get $10 off a $25 purchase, free Costello’s 10-in-1 screwdriver to the first 300 customers and Ace windshield wash for $0.99, and can also partake in pumpkin decorating and other family fun activities (Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.).

“One year ago, we set out on a new adventure for the Costello’s organization, branching out from Long Island into this charming Brooklyn neighborhood,” Michael said. “We look forward to becoming part of the fabric of the community, and also sharing our products, services and values with our new neighbors.”
