A 41-year-old man was found hiding in the closet of a Bensonhurst apartment after he assaulted and threatened a 28-year-old female relative of his.

According to police, the relatives were arguing at an apartment located near West Fourth and 65th Streets on Monday, January 9 at around 9 p.m. which escalated into the 41-year-old strangling his female relative. He then proceeded to punch the 28-year-old in the face and slam her head into a wall, according to reports.

Cops say the man then threatened to kill her if she called the police.

Authorities later found the man hiding in a closet inside the apartment and arrested him.
