Cops continue to hunt predator

Police from the 72 Precinct have released a Safety Alert inresponse to the latest attempted sexual assault in Sunset Park lastSaturday, June 25.

The incident occurred at around 4 a.m. when the victim, a36-year-old white female was entering her apartment building when aman approached from behind, grabbed her throat and attempted topush her into the building. She yelled, causing him to flee. Noinjuries were reported.

Residents say that the attack occurred outside a building in oraround 20th Street and Seventh Avenue, and that video has beenrecovered. The NYPD is seeking the public’s help in finding thesuspect, who is described as a Hispanic male, in his late 20s,5’7, around 165 lbs.

This marks the fourth sexual assault – one of them a rape – inSunset Park, Greenwood Heights and South Park Slope within threemonths. The series of attacks has left residents feeling unsafe, and for some, thepolice response has also left them frustrated.

The attack comes on the heels of a series of sexual assaults in Sunset Park andBay Ridge over the past few months, for which a suspect was arrested in the lone rape case
