Fun in the sun at the Holy Family Street Fair

You’re never too old to enjoy a snow cone, and dozens of localresidents did just that at the Holy Family Street Fair, held July15. Snow cones, cotton candy and lemonade were all given away forfree at the all-day event which also included an inflatable waterslide and a dunk tank for the kids.

The street fair took place in front of the Holy Family nursinghome in Bensonhurst, and for both the residents of the facility andthe neighborhood, it was a chance to let loose in a festivesetting.

I love it, said neighbor Eugene Villanti, observing themusical entertainment provided by the Sim Redmond Band. I’ve beenhere four years and they keep doing it every year. It’s nice.

As throngs of children excitedly went on the inflatable rides orgot their faces painted, it became increasingly apparent the annualstreet festival was a hit. Holy Family administrator Josef Hirschwas elated at the event’s success.

This event is as wonderful as the weather, which is justperfect, Hirsch said.
