Star-seeking Ridgeites who happened to be strolling on ThirdAvenue near Bay Ridge Avenue last week might have noticed somefamous faces, as Christina Ricci, Margot Robbie and Karine Vanasse- stars of the new ABC prime time show Pan Am — filmed anepisode at a local watering hole, the Three Jolly Pigeons.
The retro-drama – which takes place in 1963, when jet-settingwas just taking off – premieres on September 25 at 10 p.m. It isbeing filmed at Steiner Studios at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, whereprops include a full-size repro of a Boeing 707, the airliner ofchoice at the time.
But the filming of Pan Am just isn’t about glamour and glitz.It is one of 23 television series now being filmed in New YorkCity, and is one of eight new prime time series being shot in theBig Apple, and alone adds 400-plus jobs to the local economy,according to New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
