When the runners line up outside of Xaverian High School onSeptember 18 for the PO Chris Hoban Memorial 5-Mile Run, it will bemore than just another race.
The run, now in its 23rd year, takes place to honor New YorkCity Police Officer Christopher Hoban, an undercover narcoticsofficer shot in the line of duty in 1988. He was 26.
Xaverian, where the race starts and ends, was Hoban’s almamater. Proceeds from the event will go to a scholarship for theschool set up in his name.
It’s a very special thing to have students attend Xaverian inChris’s name, said his brother Marty Hoban. He had such awonderful high school experience and it means a lot to our familythat his legacy live on within the school community.
