Second Bensonhurst Clean-Up Planned for Sept. 17

Following a very successful neighborhood cleanup on August 9 inwhich 102 young people participated in cleaning up Seth Low Parkand the surrounding Kings Highway,

Avenue P and Bay Parkway areas, the Bensonhurst/GravesendLegislator will be holding

another neighborhood clean-up on Saturday, September 17 from 10 amto 1PM with the same volunteer groups plus additional volunteers,anxious to clean up the areas on Avenue X from Ocean Parkway toMcDonald Avenue, Avenue U from McDonald Avenue to 86th Street, andMcDonald Avenue from Avenue X to Avenue U.

The NYC Department of Sanitation will be providing brushes,shovels, bags, and gloves and cleaning supplies to the Clean-Upeffort. Assemblyman Colton was so impressed with the enthusiasm ofthe young citizens that he set up the next clean-up for a differentarea in Gravesend. Hopefully the weather will be more tolerablethan the last one, in which the kids were sweating but theirspirits never dampened. These clean-ups are a wonderful way tointroduce these students to community pride and involvement! saidColton, who added Most of these teens are still in school and theyvolunteer their precious time to give back to the community. I’mvery proud of these kids.
