Brooklyn’s newest music venue – Owl’s Head Park

Standing in Owl’s Head Park, Councilmember Vincent Gentile had abrainstorm.

I remember looking out at that million-dollar view of TheNarrows a few years ago and thinking what a perfect spot this wouldbe for performances and events, Gentile said.

After helping to secure $1.4 million for the renovation of theOwl’s Head Park Overlook, Gentile’s dream has become a reality. OnOctober 22, the park held the second in a series of free,family-friendly events utilizing the park’s new performance space.A Down Home Family Event featuring the New River Travelers banddrew more than 60 people to the park.

Bay Ridge is home to some of the best arts and culturalhappenings in Brooklyn and now we’ve got a beautiful outdoor spaceto show it off, Gentile said.

Linda Allegretti founded the Shore Road Parks Conservancy. Shesays she is delighted with the transformation of Owl’s HeadPark.

What he did was spectacular in that it just beautified ourparkland so much, Allegretti said. It gave us a marvelous spacefor concerts or shows or just enjoying the vista of the harbor. Ithink it was money well spent.
