Scissura sets sights on Borough Hall

Longtime local activist Carlo Scissura has made it official – hewill be running for borough president in 2013.

Scissura, a senior advisor to Borough President Marty Markowitz,who had served as Markowitz’s chief of staff until he began to gearup for the campaign – kicked off his campaign during an event onWednesday, October 12 at Gallery 364, hosted by Dr. NicolettaPallotta.

There’s a long road ahead, Scissura told supporters. Tonightis the beginning of the journey.

Scissura said he plans to hold dozens of small campaign events,meeting individuals in settings where he can explain, on a moreone-on-one level, what he is about, and what he thinks he wouldbring to Borough Hall.

The borough president is the one representative we have wholooks out for everyone in the borough, he stressed, who makessure, if money is coming to New York, [we get it] in Brooklyn, whomakes sure the right development is happening, and that people wantto live here, visit here, that the quality-of-life is good. It’sgoing to me my job, with all of you, to make sure we grow in theright way.

Major concerns, Scissura added, are looking out for theborough’s children and senior citizens. But, above all, hestressed, Jobs are the most important thing for the borough.
