New York City Marathon brings street closures

Unless you are among the 700,000 runners participating in theING New York City Marathon, getting into and out of Bay Ridge willbe pretty tough on Sunday, November 6.

For motorists looking to cross the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, thepain starts at 11 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, when the upperlevel of the bridge will be closed to traffic in both directions.Additionally, vehicles carrying hazardous materials will not beallowed over the bridge starting at that time.

On Marathon Sunday, the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge will be closed toall traffic from roughly 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the race. Motoriststraveling to Brooklyn or Staten Island should seek alternateroutes. In Staten Island, the Bay Street and Lily Pond Avenue exitswill close at 3 a.m. that day.
