A new market in Bay Ridge is really super.
Metropolitan CityMarket grocery store is now open at 9310 FourthAvenue. Local residents came out to support owners Al, Sam, Sammyand Omar Hamdan, and talk produce.
At the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the business-minded Hamdanbrothers, who have previously been in the produce wholesalebusiness, received a City Council Citation from CouncilmemberVincent Gentile.
Al Hamdan, expressed his gratitude to the Veterans of ForeignWars (VFW) and the community of Bay Ridge, saying, It is a greatfeeling to get into Bay Ridge, it is such a homey community. Thereare great people, excellent people walking by who offered help[when the store was under construction].
Hamdan continued, We came in and were able to partner up withthe VFW and take care of veterans, by renting the space from theorganization and looking to employ out-of-work former servicepeople.
The supermarket will carry a selection of organic andnon-organic foods and beverages.
