Golden hosts annual tree lightings

Santa, Mrs. Claus and lots of merry revelers were on hand asState Senator Marty Golden hosted a number of tree lightings aroundthe borough this year.

On December 13, the tree at McKinley Park, Fort Hamilton Parkwayand Bay Ridge Parkway, was lit. On December 8, the festivities wereat Lady Moody Square, Van Sicklen Street and Avenue U. On December12, the Fort Hamilton Memorial Triangle at 95 Street and FourthAvenue, had its tree lit.

All lightings featured Christmas caroling, hot chocolate and avisit from Santa Claus himself. Donations for Toys for Tots werealso accepted.

I look forward to welcoming Santa Claus to our neighborhoodevery year and join with neighbors in singing Christmas carols,drinking hot chocolate, and getting into the holiday spirit. It isa tradition to light trees throughout my district so to make surepeople have a chance to celebrate the most wonderful time of theyear with friends and neighbors, noted Golden.

The trees were decorated by members of the South West BrooklynParks Task Force. Millennium Development, Northfield Bank andGiuffre Motors were sponsors.

Songs sung at the tree lightings included O Christmas Tree,Jingle Bells, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, We Wish You aMerry Christmas, Frosty the Snowman and Joy to the World.

The Our Lady of Perpetual Help Twirlers performed at the treelighting held at the Fort Hamilton Memorial Triangle.
