PYO Football: Titans triumph over Eagles

In a tight, defensive-minded Minor division game, the Titansblanked the Eagles, 12 to 0.

The Titans scored 11 seconds into the game when Ryan McGovernran back the opening kick-off for the touchdown and a 6 to 0 lead.The score remained that way until late in the fourth quarter.

Jason Pit Bull Faraci recovered a fumble, Hassan Farrajintercepted a pass and Christopher Campbell and Anthony Moscatiellocame up with several solo tackles to pace the Titan defense. EricTorres, Emanuel Ferreira and Andrew Gill were the anchors on theEagles’ defensive squad.

But late in the fourth quarter, the Titans managed to find acrack in the Eagle defense when Yusef Farraj found a wide openAndrew Diaz behind the Eagle defenders on an eight-yard touchdownpass that put the Titans up for good.

In a major division clash, the Falcons exploded for 28unanswered first half points and then went on to defeat the Giants,42 to 13.

On the Big Birds’ first two offensive plays, Melvin Collinsripped off a 30-yard TD. The next time the Falcons had the ball, hescored again, this time covering 34 yards for the score.

Early in the second quarter, Michael Flash Bruno found NoahHat Man Solano for a 33-yard pass catch and run, and a fewminutes later, Bruno found Jonathan Almedina in the end zone for afive -yard scoring pass. Nicholas D’Egidio added a pair oftwo-point conversion kicks as the scoreboard read 20 to 0 at thebreak.

The Giants got on the board on the legs of running back NikolasTuason who scored twice. His first TD was a two-yard run over hisright end and the second was a 35-yard burst up the middle.

But what had to be the back-breaking touchdown for the Giantswas on a third down and seven play with the Giants looking likethey were ready to take command of the game. Bruno called a quarterback sneak. He started up the middle and when Anthony Medina openeda big hole with a crunching block, burst past the rushing defendersand raced 23 yards for the score.

D’Egidio added another two-point conversion, putting the Falconsup for good with a 23-point bulge. Eddie Cush added the finalpoints as he rushed for a 10-yard touchdown to make the final score42 to 13.

In a third game, a pass interception midway through the thirdquarter keyed a Jets go-ahead score as they came from behind to getby the Bucs, 25 to 16.

The Bucs led 16 to 12 going into the third quarter and weredriving for another score when Anthony Gallo picked off a Buc passin the flat, and returned in 15 yards to set up the Jets in goodfield position. Two plays advanced the ball to the Bucs 11 when QBFrankie Saracino called a quarterback reverse.

With everyone on the Jets running to the left, he took offaround his right end and went the 11 yards into pay dirt. WhenAngelo Lard Bread Spata added the extra point, the Jets led 19 to16. Angelo Portillo, Ralph Fasano and Pietro Riggio then took overand stopped three possessions of the Bucs, forcing them to go threeand out.

After their third possession, the Bucs’ punt penned the Jetsdeep in their own territory. But the Jets put together aseven-minute drive down field with Dominick Warrior Marino andPhillip Dash Iacono, picking up valuable yards all the way to theBucs’ one-yard line.

Saracino finished off the drive to put the Jets up by ninepoints at 25 to 16, with only 1:55 left in the game. The Bucs droveto midfield but could get no further as time and the Big Green wallstopped them for the Jets victory.
