Three Traffic Lanes Closed From Fingerboard Bridge Overpass toVerrazano-Narrows Brooklyn-bound Toll Plaza

Wide-load Trucks Will Be Barred Eastbound From 11 p.m. To 8a.m.

On Saturday, Jan. 28th between 12:01 a.m. and 7 a.m. three outof four lanes of traffic on the Staten Island Expressway will beclosed from the Fingerboard Bridge overpass to theVerrazano-Narrows Brooklyn-bound toll plaza while a new trafficpattern is put in place.

While the work is done, wide-load vehicles traveling eastboundinto Brooklyn will be barred from crossing the Verrazano-NarrowsBridge and should seek an alternate route. This restriction will bein place beginning 11 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27th through 8 a.m.,Sunday, Jan. 28th.

This work is weather dependent and in the event of rain or snowmay be rescheduled to Sunday, Jan. 29th between 12:01 a.m. and 7a.m.Motorists should expect delays and leave extra travel time.

The new traffic pattern is being put in place as part of the $50million, 45-month Verrazano-Narrows toll plaza improvement project,which includes removing the last three unused Brooklyn-bound tollbooths.

Once the lanes are re-striped, traffic will be shifted to theright before the toll plaza and continue right past the work zonewhere the toll booth removal work will be done. Just past the tollbooths motorists will be able to access both levels of thebridge.

Electronic and fixed signs will be in place both before the tollplaza and along the Staten Island Expressway to make motoristsaware of the new traffic pattern, which will remain in place whilethe toll booth removal and other rehabilitation work is beingdone.
