St. Pat’s Parade just a couple of weeks away

Go green for the 37th annual Brooklyn St. Patrick’s DayParade.

The parade will be held on Sunday, March18 and will start at 15thStreet and Prospect Park West.

The Brooklyn Irish American Parade Committee announced that the2012 Grand Marshal would be John Ridge, vice president of the N.Y.Irish History Roundtable and author of Celebrating 250 Years of theNew York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Ridge’s aides will beGloria Bischoff, Harry J. Farrell, Jim Healy, Anne Hearn, FrankKeegan, Donald Kent, John Moore and Virginia Sheehan.

The parade will be dedicated to the memories of Governor Hugh Careyand Kevin Patrick Carroll.

The theme this year will be the Intertwined History of Ireland& America. The parade coincides with the bicentennial of theWar of 1812, America’s Second War of Independence.

A pre-parade mass will take place at Holy Name Church at 9:00 a.m.and after the march, the festivities will continue at Holy NameShepherd’s Hall with live music by Frank Keegan. To RSVP, by March1, call 718-499-9482 or 718-941-2877.
