This paper to sponsor BRCC photo contest

For the first time ever, The Home ReporterBrooklyn Spectator and Spectator News will be the sponsors of the Bay Ridge Community Council’s photo contest, “People and Places,” with the winning photos to be published in the pages of the three newspapers.

“We are delighted to promote the visibility of the talent in Bay Ridge in all of our newspapers,” stressed Victoria Schneps-Yunis, the papers’ co-publisher.

“We’re very happy that The Home Reporter and Brooklyn Spectator have agreed to sponsor this year’s photo contest,” noted Alex Conti, BRCC’s president. “It’s always good to have one of our local organizations get behind the council and support us as they have done all these years.”

The popular amateurs-only competition – one of BRCC’s eagerly anticipated annual events — is open to individuals who live, work or attend school in Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights or Fort Hamilton, or are members of a BRCC member organization.

The contest is open to both students and adults, with gold, silver and bronze prizes awarded in each age group. Students must be in grades five through twelve. Entrants may only submit one photo. A student may submit a photo of any size, while adult can only submit photos sized 4 x 6 or larger.

On the back of each photo, the entrant must print his/her full name, address, phone number, email (if possible), date and location of the photo, contest level (student or adult), school name and grade (if a student), and the words “please return” only if the entrant wishes the photo to be sent back.

Entries must be mailed to Bay Ridge Community Council Photo Contest, c/o McLaughlin & Sons, 9620 Third Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11209.

The deadline is fast approaching. All entries must be received by Monday, March 5. An award ceremony will be held during the BRCC meeting on Tuesday, March 27.
