As the temperature rises and sunny days make our weekends better, New York women race to the gym to prepare for the ever-dreaded bathing suit season. Around the city, these females furiously try fad diets aimed at shedding those last-minute pounds, before they are forced back into bathing suits for another beach season. Still, we have to wonder what these fast fixes are doing to our overall health.
In honor of National Osteoporosis Awareness month, Brooklyn Women’s Services will offer a free nutritional workshop for women. The event will be aimed at providing dietary tips to help preserve and maintain bone strength and muscle mass. The discussion, led by experts in the field, will include ways to incorporate more calcium and vitamin D into your diet, as well as some tips for women experiencing post-menopausal bone loss.
The Stay Strong with Good Nutrition event will be held at Brooklyn Women’s Services, 9201 Fourth Avenue, second floor, on May 2 at 6 p.m. and requires registration at www.brooklynwomensservices.com.
