Brooklyn Spectator Magazine launches

The May 2012 inaugural issue of the Brooklyn Spectator Magazine was launched last week to positive acclaim.

The monthly magazine is the newest publication from the Brooklyn Media Group, which already publishes the Home Reporter and Sunset News, Brooklyn Spectator and Brooklyn Spectator News community newspapers in southern Brooklyn.

The Brooklyn Spectator Magazine and its soon-to-be-launched daily online companion, BrooklynSpectator.com, is a source of fun and useful community news for Brooklynites living in Park Slope, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn Heights, DUMBO, Downtown Brooklyn, Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Williamsburg and Greenpoint.

Topics being covered include community news, as well as events and features about art, food, fashion, business, real estate, technology, culture, entertainment, music, kids, parenting, health and more. Readers are encouraged to contribute by suggesting stories, submitting events for the calendar, writing blog posts or columns, and interning with the magazine.

The magazine’s Facebook and Twitter pages can be found at www.facebook.com/BrooklynSpectator and @brooklynspec.

Heather J. Chin has been named editor of the magazine and website after over a year as a reporter and digital editor at the Home Reporter and Spectator News, covering Bay Ridge, Sunset Park, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend.

“We’re excited to be expanding our coverage and serving these terrific communities,” said publisher Joshua Schneps. “Our mission, as with our other local papers, is to be all about our readers and provide award-winning local content.”
