Raising money for cancer care and support

It was an evening of colorful support at the American Cancer society’s fourth annual Pink and Black Tie gala on May 17 at Stage 6 at Steiner Studios.

The night was star-studded including guest hosts Stacy London of “What Not to Wear,” Cat Greenleaf of “Talk Stoop,” and comedian Chuck Nice. Proceeds from the event went to patient navigation and the WIC program for Brooklyn residents. In addition to money raised for local causes, there was a call to action to raise funds for the Hope Lodge, which provides free housing to cancer patients undergoing treatment in Manhattan.

The guests mingled through the cocktail hour, danced to music provided by DJ Diamond, participated in the silent auction, and gathered to congratulate the night’s honorees.

Dr. Kathie-Ann Joseph was honored as the ACS’ Health Care Leadership award winner. The Daily News and the Nu Hotel were awarded the Business Leadership awards and hip hop artist, the Kangol Kid, was named volunteer of the year.
