A police officer from the 78th Precinct in Park Slope and Prospect Heights was arrested late Wednesday night, August 2, for allegedly raping a female acquaintance — possibly an ex-girlfriend — in a Staten Island parking lot.
Officer Arthur Roldan, 28, was off-duty at the time of the alleged assault, which took place at around 11 p.m. in a parking lot on Father Capodanno Boulevard.
At his arraignment on Thursday morning, Roldan was charged with rape, menacing and assault. According to court papers and the criminal complaint, he “struck the defendant in the face with a closed fist” and “pointed a gun at [her]” before forcibly raping her.
The six-year-veteran has been suspended without pay. He is out on $20,000 bail and is forbidden from contacting the alleged victim under the details of an order of protection issued. If he does, his bail will be raised to $200,000.
Roldan is due back in court on September 26.
