A fun weekend ahead with “Trouble at the Tropicabana”

Get ready for a two-day reprise of the interactive “Trouble at the Tropicabana” this upcoming weekend aimed at helping out members of the Bay Ridge community.

A special benefit put together by the Helping Hands for the four families displaced by the 81st Street fire which occurred June 21 will be held on August 11 and 12 at the St. Mary’s Antiochian Church Hall, 192 81st Street, with tickets costing $25.00 per person, or two tickets for $40.00.

The production is presented by Jeff Samaha Theater productions and Ridge Chorale, the same groups that put it on in April, but the ending has been changed.

The show is based on the TV show, “I Love Lucy,” and features characters such as Lucy, Ricky and Fred.

The audience will be able to participate, just like in the previous show. There will be music selections from two Broadway shows, “Smokey Joe’s Café,” and “SHOUT,” as well as a special appearance by The Jeff Samaha Orchestra.

“We are looking forward to it,” said Justin Brannan, spokesperson for the Helping Hands group and a cast member. It’s a good way to raise money, he noted, and “help our neighbors rebuild their lives.”

“We’ve been practicing every night,” he added.

The show will begin at 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 11t; and at 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 12.

There will be light snacks, cheese and crackers, served. Also, wine, beer and soft drinks will be available for purchase.

If you would like to purchase tickets in advance, you can visit The Bookmark Shoppe, located at 8415 Third Avenue, or call 718-833-5115 for reservations.
