No rain, hurray! Summer Stroll draws more visitors to Third

The rain stayed away, as Summer Stroll made its way to Bay Ridge on the last Friday in July.

This time, people held their breaths waiting for a rain-free evening. They hoped to enjoy themselves fully without the need to hide under an umbrella, and their wishes came true.

The result was an evening of fun and entertainment that lasted from 6 to 10 p.m. along Third Avenue between 82nd and 89th Streets, on July 27.

Visitors had meals outdoors and chatted with friends and family.

Parents brought their young children to the Art Room, at 8710 Third Avenue, to paint one of Keith Haring’s most iconic images called “The Barking Dog.”

Copies of The Ghosts of Belfast, by Stuart Neville, were handed out to the public by Soho Press at The Bookmark Shoppe, 8415 Third Avenue.

The Home Reporter and The Brooklyn Spectator provided an evening of entertainment with “Cappy Da Clown,” who did face painting, put on a magic show and played music outside the newspapers’ office at Third Avenue and 88th Street.

Paws Truly, 7607 Third Avenue, distributed coupons and offered people a chance to enter a raffle to win gift certificates for the store.

“It was fun,” said Deirdre Cronin Butler, the owner of Paws Truly. “I got to see a lot of customers and meet new faces.”

Students from The Brooklyn Dance Center put on lively performances to cheer the crowd, with junior tappers amongst the dancers, and Frankie Marra sang in front of Kettle Black.

Summer is not over—yet. August 10 and 17 will be your last two opportunities to stay local on Friday nights and enjoy all that Summer Stroll has to offer!

Hurry and mark these dates on your calendar. Make August a month to remember by visiting Bay Ridge’s hottest new summer sensation.
