Port Authority discount takes effect immediately: Toll relief on bridges kicks in early

Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis is alerting her constituents that the Port Authority discount plan on local bridges is taking effect immediately, ahead of its scheduled August 13 start date. Under the plan, the toll for enrolled E-Z Pass users with non-commercial plates shall be $4.75 per trip after three trips are completed within a calendar month at the Goethals Bridge, Outerbridge Crossing and/or the Bayonne Bridge. Since August is already underway, all enrolled drivers will pay the discounted rate regardless of the amount of trips they take.

“Toll relief cannot come soon enough for Brooklyn drivers, and the early start to this discount program is certainly welcome news for our overburdened commuters,” said Malliotakis. “With roughly six more weeks left of summer, the early implementation of this discount is crucial for the many Brooklynites that spend weekends in New Jersey to visit family and enjoy the shoreline. Our community fought long and hard for these savings, and the families and businesses of Brooklyn deserve to reap the benefits of their efforts. I encourage anyone enrolled in the Port Authority’s program to take advantage of these decreased rates and urge anyone who has yet to register for the discount plan to sign up as soon as possible.”

Assemblywoman Malliotakis has been at the forefront of the fight to improve transportation options for Brooklyn commuters. In addition to ensuring that Brooklyn was included in the Port Authority’s discount plan, the assemblywoman worked alongside colleagues in government and constituents to restore weekend express bus service on the X-27. She has made bringing fiscal sanity and transparency to both the Port Authority and MTA a cornerstone of her time in office.
