NY Kids Club To Open In Park Slope And Williamsburg

Parents are buzzing about the impending arrival of NY Kids Club to Park Slope and Williamsburg in the Spring and Fall of 2013.

The educational enrichment program for kids has seven locations throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn, and the addition of these spaces at 125 Fifth Avenue in January, and 2 Northside Piers around back-to-school time, will mark the company’s first expansion in Brooklyn since they launched their Brooklyn Heights location.

“Williamsburg has been a location we’ve had our eye on for a long time,” said Jennifer Simon, location manager at the Gramercy Park center. “Now because there are so many families there and a need for preschool and afterschool classes, it’s something we can do.”

The same thought process was behind the choice of the Park Slope location, which will be the company’s biggest one yet, taking up an entire building and include a rooftop playground for pre-schoolers, said Liza Zeneski, director of special events of NY Kids Club.

Both new Kids Club spaces will focus on kids aged two months to 12, and will offer the same core programs as its sister locations, plus some extras – like a dance academy or rock climbing – if space allows.

Core programs include a preschool program for two- to four-year-olds; a series of Mommy and Me classes up to 2.5 years-old; and Independent Learning classes for kids up to age 12 in gymnastics, arts, dance, martial arts, and cooking.

The cost for a 17-week long program varies depending on the class, but a 45-minute class at the Brooklyn Heights location is $620. With pre-school, though, “it’s very different because it’s a year commitment and depends on number of days a week and hours signed up for,” said

There will also be camps throughout the seasons, as well as birthday parties on weekends and special events such as pajama parties on Friday nights – for families who cannot commit to a regular, year-long schedule.

Northside Piers mom Cynthia Summers, whose child will be four -and-a-half-years old by the time the new space opens, said she is “thrilled to see yet another resource for activities, classes and fun for the growing number of young children in our neighborhood” and that “the preschool option will be particularly applauded as there is more demand than there are slots in existing local preschools.”
