Police Officer James Gipson was selected as the 84th Precinct’s Cop Of The Month for September. He was chosen for the honor by Deputy Inspector Mark DiPaolo for his role in apprehending a man wanted for two bank robberies – an arrest made while the suspect was in the process of a third robbery.
The arrest was made in April 2011; Gipson recognized the suspect off of a wanted poster. The Cop Of The Month ceremony was held at the October 2012 meeting of the 84th Precinct Community Council, after the suspect was tried in court and sentenced to a lengthy prison term.
Gipson is a seven-year veteran of the 84th Precinct an is a member of its Anti-Crime Team.
