Thomas Jefferson Club’s 57th anniversary dinner

It was time to party as the Thomas Jefferson Democratic Club held its 57th annual dinner at the El Caribe in Mill Basin on Sunday, December 2 — an event that raises money to pay bills for the oldest existing Democratic Club in Brooklyn.

The organization honored three Brooklyn members, Yolaine Ridore, who received the Woman of the Year award, Lara Genovesi, and Paul Lombardozzi, “a very charitable person,” Brooklyn Democratic leader Frank Seddio, said.

“All honorees are important to us,” Seddio expressed, “We never go outside of our circle,” he added, also remarking “We did good,” he said about the amount raised. “We’re happy.”

Originally planned for November 4, the dinner had to be postponed due to Superstorm Sandy. However, more people than usual showed up for the rescheduled gala, making it a “spectacular and crowded event,” concluded Seddio, who received the Brooklyn Bridge Award from Borough President Marty Markowitz.

In all, 580 people attended, including many local politicians and elected officials.

“We’re a community based organization,” remarked Seddio. “The local support from local leaders has made us so strong.”
