Victoria Schneps-Yunis, co-publisher of this paper, will have her very own show on BCAT, Victorias Stars, featuring local unsung heroes.
Gregori Romenski, director and producer of the show, explained that the show will be about everyday people who have good qualities and do something of importance either at home, in their careers or in their communities.
She is choosing people who actually deserve to be noticed as valuable people, he explained.
Stars of and in our communities are abundant and often unknown, Schneps-Yunis said. It is my pleasure and honor to bring the limelight to these well deserving, special people.
Romenski said the concept came from the Star of Brooklyn feature seen in The Home Reporter and Brooklyn Spectator
We live in a society with busy schedules and we dont notice the people next to us, Romenski said. So we just stop a little bit and try to convince other people to think about how sometimes the little things matter in life. If someone is doing little things, its really valuable.
Romenski added that he hopes people will be inspired to be active themselves in their own communities by watching the show.
We have real people with real stories. We arent creating characters, he said. When you see someone telling his or her story, it can be a big inspiration for someone else younger or disadvantaged.
The first episode of Victorias Stars will air on BCAT on Wednesday, February 13 at 3:30 p.m. and will re-air the next day at 5 p.m. BCAT can be found on Time Warner channel 79, Cablevision channel 68, RCN channel 83 and Verizon channel 43.
